The author examines the following method for solving the inverse heat conduction problem in one-dimension: first filter the noisy input data using standard Fourier spectrum analysis techniques, and then solve the inverse problem for the fitted data using regularization methods. Theoretical and numerical results are presented to confirm the accuracy and stability of the method.
