Quadrature rules for integrands behaving like the product of a smooth function with a singular or ``difficult'' function are developed using equally spaced nodes. The rules and their error bounds are obtained by approximating the smooth function with a Lagrange polynomial of fixed low degree over each of a number of subintervals. The resulting rules are general weighted versions of composite Newton-Cotes rules in the manner that Filon's rule is a particular weighted version of Simpson's rule. Explicit formulas are given for the midpoint, trapezoidal, Simpson's and 4-point rules. The case, arising from Schwarz-Christoffel mappings, where the singular function has the form \(x^{\alpha}\), \(\alpha >-1\) is considered in detail and practical computations show the method to be effective, outperforming the method of \textit{R. T. Davis} [AIAA Paper No.79-1463, in 4th Computational Fluid Dynamics Conference (1979)].
