The author considers the problem of designing a feedback operator K(A,B,D) for linear finite-dimensional stationary control systems (A,B), depending on a parameter D. Choosing as method the analytic design of a linear controller, when B and D are fixed, the author describes the set of matrices A that leads to a closed-loop system having a preassigned spectrum. The geometric properties of such a set are investigated and applications of the results are discussed.
