Throughout let K be an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(p>0\), and let G be a finite group. Let \({\mathcal X}\) be a set of subgroups of G with \(1\in {\mathcal X}\). For any finitely generated KG-module M denote the endomorphism ring \(End_{KG}(M)\) by \((M,M)_ G\), and let \((M,M)_{{\mathcal X},G}=\{\alpha \in (M,M)_ G|\alpha\) factors through an \({\mathcal X}\)-projective module\(\}\). Furthermore, let \((M,M)^{{\mathcal X}}_ G=(M,M)_ G/(M,M)_{{\mathcal X},G}.\) For KG-modules M and C consider the map \(\tau\) : End\({}_{KG}(M)\otimes End_{KG}(C)\to End_{KG}(M\otimes C)\) defined by \(\tau (\phi \otimes \psi)(m\otimes c)=\phi (m)\otimes \psi (c)\) for all \(m\in M\), \(c\in C\). Then \(\tau\) induces a K-algebra homomorphism \[ {\bar \tau}: (M,M)^{{\mathcal X}}_ G\otimes (C,C)_ G^{{\mathcal X}}\to (M\otimes C,M\otimes C)_ G^{{\mathcal X}}. \] With this notation the author shows the following Theorem: Let M and C be indecomposable KG-modules such that C is not \({\mathcal X}\)-projective. Suppose that the above map \({\bar \tau}\) is surjective. Let \(a: 0\to \Omega^ 2C\to E\to C\to 0\) be the Auslander-Reiten sequence for C. Then the following are equivalent: (1) p does not divide \(\dim_ KM\). (2) \(M\otimes C=L\oplus P\), where P is \({\mathcal X}\)-projective, and where \(L\neq 0\) is an indecomposable not \({\mathcal X}\)-projective KG-module such that \(M\otimes a\) is the Auslander-Reiten sequence for L up to a splitting \({\mathcal X}\)-projective summand. (3) \(M\otimes a\) does not split.
