The paper deals with the solution to discrete-time linear estimation problems for a discrete two-dimensional field. The model used for the field is the so-called matrix model and correspondingly suitable linear matrix difference equations are introduced. The solutions to the filtering and prediction problems are obtained by classical Kalman filtering methods.
