Pseudodifferential operators, operator orderings, marching algorithms and path integrals for one-way equations (Q1105784)

The general characteristic of the paper is a critical discussion about the one-way parabolic wave theory, where the first author has his own contribution in a set of papers published with L. Fishman from 1984 till now, quoted in the bibliography. It is very difficult to enumerate their observations in a reasonable long review, but they can be rallied in some principal directions: a) discuss some concepts familiar to the quantum mechanics theory in the context of the one-way wave theory, encountered in ocean acoustics and seismology; b) give intuitively the meanings of this theory to the seismographs and water acousticians; c) comment the possibility of the pseudodifferential operators and the operator orderings application, to the elliptic wave propagation; d) study the marching algorithms and path integrals for the numerical solutions of the problem. In all their considerations, the authors make critical observations to the other authors' results, including their own ones.
