Let \({\mathcal P}\) be a full and replete subcategory of Top and S a class of all locally closed embeddings in Top. The full subcategory of Top consisting of all \(T_ i\)-spaces is denoted by \({\mathcal T}_ i\) for \(i=0,1\). The following two results are obtained. Whenever \({\mathcal P}\subset {\mathcal T}_ i\) is quotient reflective in Top. \({\mathcal P}\) is totally refletive w.r.t. S iff \({\mathcal P}\) is a disconnectedness in the sense of \textit{A. V. Arkhangel'skij} and \textit{R. Wiegandt} [Gen. Topology Appl. 5, 9-33 (1975; Zbl 0329.54008)]. The unique non-trivial disconnectedness of Top totally reflective w.r.t. embeddings is the category \({\mathcal T}_ 0\). Using this result the author shows the existence of an epireflective subcategory of HCompt which is not a disconnectedness of HCompt, solving a problem given by \textit{P. J. Nyikos} [Categor. Topol., Proc. Conf. Mannheim 1975, Lect. Notes Math. 540, 452- 481 (1976; Zbl 0349.54017)]. It also noted that \({\mathcal P}\) is totally reflective w.r.t. S iff \({\mathcal P}\) is closed under partial products over S, by the result due to \textit{R. Dyckhoff} and \textit{W. Tholen} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 49, 103-116 (1987)].
