This paper is concerned with an abstract differential equation of the form: \[ By'(t) + Ay(t) = f(t) \] where \(A\) is a nonlinear operator and \(B\) is a linear operator. The solution \(y\) and the given function \(f\) take values in a Banach space. The main results concern the existence and uniqueness of solutions of the equation satisfying the initial condition \(By(0) = Bu\) where the given element \(u\) satisfies \(a\) compatibility condition of the form \[ f(0) - Au \in \text{Range}\,B. \] These results are designed to cover cases where \(B\) is not necessarily one-to-one, and where \(A\) is not necessarily a monotone operator. Some examples and special cases help to clarify the context of the abstract hypotheses.
