Peano continua (i.e. locally connected and metric) and their hyperspaces of subcontinua are considered. It is shown that if f: \(X\to Y\) is a continuous map between such continua which is trivial over a non-empty open subset of Y with the fiber being a locally connected compactum without isolated points, then the subspace of the hyperspace of X consisting of those subcontinua which are mapped onto Y is homeomorphic to the Hilbert cube. This answers the question raised by \textit{V. V. Fedorchuk} [Usp. Mat. Nauk 39, No.5(239), 169-208 (1984; Zbl 0572.54013)]. The proof is based on methods from the theory of Hilbert cube manifolds, e.g. on theorems by \textit{H. Toruńczyk} [Fundam. Math. 106, 31-40 (1980; Zbl 0346.57004)] and \textit{T. A. Chapman} [Compos. Math. 24, 329-353 (1972; Zbl 0246.57005)].
