This paper examines certain properties (invariance to population replication, additive decomposability and normalization) of a given class of inequality measures. By investigating the implications of the various ranges of the parameters, and by considering implications of ``within terms'' and ``between terms'', decomposition structures of various forms are discussed and motivated.
