The purpose of this paper is to construct a veto theory over an infinite issue set (a continuum) which presents the same essential features as the finite theory and which enables the extension of most of the interesting results. The main restriction of the model is that only those veto correspondences (VCs) are dealt with which do not distinguish between two alternative subsets having the same measure. Those are \(\mu\)-neutral VCs where \(\mu\) is some fixed measure on the alternative set. Moreover it is assumed that \(\mu\) is nonatomic so that a real representation of the veto power will be possible. First the author gives a brief survey of general concepts and results already known for the finite case. Secondly he discusses the construction of a model of veto theory over a continuum of alternatives. We prove that a \(\mu\)-neutral VC can be represented by a real veto power function and that descriptive concepts on VCs can be translated into similar concepts for their real representations. Finally the author proves that additive VCs are stable and the stable VCs are well behaved from above and from below. Stability of convex VCs is then proved by a direct method.
