Let \(X_ 1,X_ 2,..\). be a sequence of independent uniform \([0,1]^ d\), \(d\in {\mathbb{N}}\), random vectors. The authors investigate the strong limiting behavior of the supremum of a class of weighted uniform empirical processes taken over increasingly smaller regions near the origin. Under some assumptions on the weights, laws of the iterated logarithm are shown to hold for all dimensions d. These results have proven useful in the derivation of laws of the iterated logarithm for sums of extreme values.
