Dynamic buckling of a thin rectangular plate on elastic foundation (Q1107364)

A simplified method to evaluate the dynamic buckling load for a thin, isotropic rectangular elastic plate resting on an elastic foundation (Winkler model), subjected to equal biaxial compression has been illustrated. The method consists of transforming the governing equation of motion into a \(2\times 2\) matrix equation and its subsequent transformation in a Banach space through double Fourier transforms. The critical buckling load depends on fundamental frequency and foundation- parameter and consequently a stability criterion for the plate under consideration can be predicted exactly.
