Let k be an algebraically closed field. The growth number \(\rho\) (C) of a wild concealed k-algebra C is defined by \(\rho (C)=\lim_{n\to \infty}\sqrt{\dim_ k\tau_ C^{-1}P}\) where P is any indecomposable projective C-module and \(\tau_ C\) the Auslander-Reiten operator. Let A be a finite dimensional basic connected wild hereditary algebra, T a tilting A-module without preinjective direct summands, \(B=End_ AT\) and \(B_{{\mathcal P}}\) the concealed wild algebra corresponding to the preprojective component \({\mathcal P}\) of B. One proves that \(\rho (A)\leq \rho (B_{{\mathcal P}})\). Moreover, if A has at least 3 simple modules, then, for any natural number N, there exists a tilting A-module T without preinjective direct summands such that \(\rho (B_{{\mathcal P}})=((r^ 2+r\sqrt{4+r^ 2})/2)-1\) for some \(r\geq N\). It is also shown that the class of minimal wild algebras with a preprojective component containing all projective modules coincides with the class of minimal wild concealed algebras.
