In this paper, there are presented some results of the author's Doctoral Dissertation which characterize the relationship mentioned in the title. The first theorem shows that for any path system E with the external intersection condition, any set A and any E-differentiable function f on A there exists a path system E' with both these intersection conditions such that f is E'-differentiable on A and \(f_ E'=f'_{E'}\) on A. This theorem gives those results which hold for any path derivative where the path system satisfies the intersection condition and hold also for any path derivative with respect to a path system satisfying the external intersection condition. There are given also such results which were proved for path systems with the intersection condition by other authors. It is known that the path derivative \(f_ E'\) of an E-differentiable function f is a Baire 1 function if E satisfies the external intersection condition. The author gives an example of a function f and a path system E satisfying the intersection condition such that f is E-differentiable and \(f_ E'\) is not a Baire 1 function. At the end of the paper, the author shows how worse can behave a non-differentiable function with respect to a path system with the external intersection condition, and a non-differentiable function with respect to a path system with the intersection condition.
