    The following result is proved. Theorem. Let \(p>0\), \(a>-1\). Suppose that G is a measurable subset of B, the unit ball in \({\mathbb{R}}^ n,\) for which there exists a positive constant \(A_ 1\) so that \[ \int_{B} (1-| x|)\quad a| f(x)| \quad p dm\quad \leq \quad A_ 1\int_{G} (1-| x|)\quad a| f(x)| \quad p dm \] for each function that is harmonic in B and for which the left-hand side of the above inequality is finite. Then there is a positive constant \(A_ 2\), so that for each ball K with center on \(\partial B\), m(K\(\cap B)\leq A_ 2m(K\cap G).\) Here m denotes Lebesgue measure in \({\mathbb{R}}^ n.\) This result answers a question left open by \textit{D. Luecking} [Monatsh. Math. 96, 131-141 (1983; Zbl 0517.31003)].
