The aim of this note is to answer two questions of \textit{A. Grothendieck} [Sur les espace (F) et (DF), Summa Brasil. Math. 3, 57-123 (1954; Zbl 0058.098)]. It is shown that the bidual of a strict (LF)-space is not necessarily an (LF)-space (even if every step of the (LF)-space is distinguished), and that the strong dual of a strict (LF)-space need not be countably barrelled.
