Applying \textit{D. Vogt}'s and \textit{M. J. Wagner}'s splitting theorems on exact sequences of Fréchet spaces [Stud. Math. 67, 225-240 (1980; Zbl 0464.46010)] and their own previous results concerning relations among analytic functions [Ann. Inst. Fourier 37, No.1, 187-239 (1987; Zbl 0611.32002) and No.2, 49-77 (1987; Zbl 0611.32003)] the authors provide a uniform approach to the continuous linear solutions of the division, composition and extension problems in differential analysis. The heart of the matter is a reduction of the problems to semicontinuity of discrete local invariants in analytic geometry, which implies the existence of natural stratifications of the spaces considered. The authors' main results include a number of celebrated theorems as special cases, and they also offer a lot of new information.
