The standard elasto-plastic pressurized tube problem is formulated within the framework of a finite-strain \(J_ 2\) deformation theory. The field equations are reduced to a system of two coupled ordinary nonlinear differential equations. Numerical results are shown to be in agreement with earlier incremental finite-element solutions. A further reduction to quadratures is possible when elastic compressibility is neglected. Also given is a first order theory for compressible materials along with some applications.
