Let \(\rho_{\lambda}\) and \(\rho_{\mu}\) be two irreducible representations of GL(n,\({\mathbb{C}})\) corresponding to the partitions \(\lambda\), \(\mu\) of n respectively. The Littlewood-Richardson rule gives a combinatorial description for the multiplicity of \(\rho_{\nu}\) in the tensor product representation \(\rho_{\lambda}\otimes \rho_{\mu}\). This rule was proved by a number of people in different ways. The present paper gives a new proof of it in terms of relative invariants of a Borel subalgebra of general linear Lie algebra by using determinantal method and Young diagrammatical method. This is a characteristic free approach to the Littlewood-Richardson rule. Moreover, by this method, one can express all the weight vectors of each \(\rho_{\nu}\) occurring in \(\rho_{\lambda}\otimes \rho_{\mu}\) explicitly.
