Some series solutions of the Duffing equation (Q1108426)

The Cauchy problem \((*)\quad x''(t)+a\quad 2x(t)=b\quad 2x\quad 3(t),\) \(x(0)=A\), \(x'(0)=0\), \(t\in {\mathbb{R}}\) where x(t)\(\in {\mathbb{R}}\), \(a,b\in {\mathbb{R}}\), is considered. Some recurrence formulas for the coefficients \((a_ n)\) and \((b_ n)\) of the solution of (*) in the forms \(x(t)=\sum^{\infty}_{n=0}a_ nt\) n or \(x(t)=\sum^{\infty}_{n=0}b_ n \sin \quad nat\) and the convergence of the above series on \({\mathbb{R}}\) are obtained.
