The linear Boltzmann equation is formulated against a moving material background in both Eulerian and Lagrangian representations. One- dimensional slab and spherical geometries and two-dimensional cylindrical geometry are treated. Material acceleration terms are expanded locally, effective cross sections and moving sources are defined, and the continuity equation is coupled to the transport equation in a consistent manner. Relative importances of material motion terms ar discussed and a simple approximation to the material acceleration term is suggested. Standard multigroup representations for the material motion terms are obtained and an iteration strategy used to solve the transport equation is reviewed. Specific applications are presented and contrasted.
