The author's purpose is to develop a perturbation technique applicable to other than directly coupled oscillations, examples of which were given by \textit{H. G. Othmer} Temporal order, Proc. Symp. Oscill. Heler. Chem. Biol. Syst., Brauen/Ger. 1984, Springer Ser. Synergetics 29, 130-143 (1985; Zbl 0577.92001) and to extend the results of \textit{H. G. Othmer}, \textit{D. G. Aronson} and \textit{E. J. Doedel} [Resonance and Bistability in Coupled Oscillators, Physics Letts 113 A, 349 (1986)] and others to nonsingular linear coupling.
