The author considers the following pair of dual integral equations of the first kind depending on the parameters \(\alpha\), \(\nu\), \(\beta\), \(\mu\) : (1) \(\int^{+\infty}_{0}t^{- 2\alpha}J_{\nu}(xt)[1+w(t)]u(t)dt=f(x)\), \(0<x<1;\) (2) \(\int^{+\infty}_{0}t^{-2\beta}J_{\mu}(xt)u(t)dt=g(x)\), \(1<x,\) where w, f, g are prescribed functions. He shows (by a formal procedure) that system (1), (2) can be reduced to a single Fredholm integral equation of the second kind on \((0,+\infty)\), whatever the quadruplet \((\alpha,\nu,\beta,\mu)\in {\mathbb{R}}^ 4\) may be. Moreover in the case where \(w=0\) he exhibits an explicit representation for the solution u in terms of f and g and a suitable number of their derivatives.
