A novel adaptive control scheme is presented for process control applications. The controller is composed of switched capacitor circuits which are adjusted (tuned) using a supervisory computer. The proposed scheme has the following advantages: (1) Software failure reduces the adaptive controller to a fixed controller but does not interrupt the service. (2) Limited capability processors can be used since the supervisory loop can run many times slower than the control loop.
