A biplane of order \(n\) is a set of \(v=1+(n+1)(n+2)/2\) points and \(v\) lines such that each line contains exactly \(n+2\) points and any two distinct lines intersect in 2 points. The biplanes of order \(n\leq 8\) have been classified and until now only six biplanes of order \(\geq 9\) have been known. In this article the authors discover a new self-dual biplane of order 9, and observe that it is the only known biplane with a small automorphism group, in the sense that its full automorphism group has order \(<v\). They also classify (with the help of a paper by \textit{V. Göller} [Dissertation, Heidelberg 1985; per rev.]), all biplanes of order 9 admitting a collineation group of order 6.
