The author finds triples of rational Pythagorean triangles having equal areas by solving \((*)\quad a^ 2\pm ab+b^ 2=c^ 2\) using Pell equations. Because the corresponding Pell equations have infinitely many solutions he gets an infinity of solutions of (*) and therefore infinitely many such triples.
