    The author obtains the solution of the integral equation \(g(x)=\int^{\infty}_{0}J^ 2_ x(y)f(y)dy,\) where g(x) is a known function, \(J_ x(y)\) is the Bessel function of order x and f(y) is the unknown function. The solution obtained is: \[ f(y)=y\int^{\infty}_{0}\tau J_ 0(y\tau)\{\int^{\infty}_{0}G(x)\cos xt dx\}d\tau,\quad y\geq 0, \] where \(\tau =2 \cosh t\) and \(G(x)=-\frac{img g(ix/2)}{\Delta \inf \pi x/2}\). As an application of the result it is shown that for: \(g(x)=(4a)^{-1}\sqrt{a^ 2+1}[(\sqrt{a^ 2+1}-a)^{2x}],\) the solution is \(f(y)=yK_ 0(2ay),\) \(y\geq 0\), and for \(g(x)=\sqrt{\pi /2}\Gamma (x+1/4)/\Gamma (x+3/4),\) the solution is \(f(y)=(\Gamma 3/4)^ 2y^{-1/2},\) \(y>0\).
