The authors study operator norm inequalities due to Ando-Kittaneh-Kosaki for positive operators A, B and a non-negative operator monotone function f defined on [0,\(\infty)\). One inequality is \[ \| f(A)-f(B)\| \leq \| f(| A-B|)\|, \] and this is due to Ando-Kittaneh-Kosaki. It is shown that the equality holds for invertible A, B and nonlinear f if and only if \(A=B\) and \(f(0)=0\). Similarly, from the Kittaneh-Kosaki inequality, the authors have proved that \(\| f(A)-f(B)\| =f'(t)\| A-B\|\) for \(A,B\geq t>0\) and a nonlinear function f if and only if \(A=B\). For a number of related results in this subject one can see the book: Nonlinear analysis (edited by the reviewer) and published by World Scientific Publishing Company (1987; Zbl 0508.55003), as well as the book: Topics in mathematical analysis (edited by the reviewer) to appear by world Scientific Publishing Company in June 1989.
