The author proves that every Noetherian ring of dimension one is pole- assignable. The proof is based on the fact that a commutative ring R is pole-assignable if R satisfies the condition that every basic finitely generated submodule of a finitely generated projective R-module P contains a rank one direct summand of P. A ring with this property is termed a bcs-ring by \textit{W. V. Vasconcelos} and \textit{C. A. Weibel} in J. Pure Appl. Algebra 52, No.1/2, 173-185 (1988; see the preceding review), where also a proof (obtained independently) is given that one-dimensional Noetherian rings are pole-assignable.
