Let \(\mathfrak R\) be a chain and \(K\) be an associative ring. Further, let \(NT(\mathfrak R,K)\) be the ring generated by elements \(\{xe_{ij}: x\in K, e_{ij}\) matrix units, \(i,j\in\mathfrak R\), \(i<j\}\) as an abelian group and with usual multiplication. Finally, let \(\mathcal G(R)\) be the adjoint group, \(\Lambda(R)\) be the associated Lie ring of the ring \(R\), respectively. This paper continues the author's earlier research on the structural dependence of the automorphisms of \(R=NT(\mathfrak R,K)\), \(\mathcal G(R)\) and \(\Lambda(R)\) [Sov. Math., Dokl. 16, 756--760 (1975); translation from Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 222, 1279--1282 (1975; Zbl 0347.20023), Algebra Logika 15, 558--578 (1976; Zbl 0366.20052), Sib. Mat. Zh. 24, No. 4, 64--68 (1983; Zbl 0525.20031)]. In particular, the following results are established: A. Assume that \(K=K^2\) and \(R=NT(\mathfrak R,K)\). Then the class of normal subgroups of \(\mathcal G(R)\) coincides with the class of all ideals of \(\Lambda(R)\) . This is a corollary of a more general result (Theorem 1) about the normal subgroups of a so called ``carpet subring'' of \(R=NT(\mathfrak R,K)\). B. Let \(\mathfrak R\) be a dense chain and \(K\) be a skew field. Then the classes of the ideals of \(R=NT(\mathfrak R,K)\) and of \(\Lambda(R)\) coincide. Also it is given a characterization of the abelian and maximal abelian ideals of \(NT(\mathfrak R,K)\) in the case when \(K\) is a ring without zero-divisors. C. Let \(K\) be a ring without zero-divisors and with identity element and \(|\mathfrak R| >4\). Then every automorphism of the ring \(R=NT(\mathfrak R,K)\) is a product of some special kinds of automorphisms (translation, diagonal-, ring-, central- and locally inner-automorphisms). A similar characterization is given for automorphisms of the group \(\mathfrak G(R)\) and of the ring \(\Lambda(R)\).
