Some questions concerning the invariance of the coefficient ring of a group ring were investigated by \textit{I. Adjaero} and the author [Can. J. Math. 35, 654-673 (1983; Zbl 0535.16012)]. In this note the author extends results of that paper to a class of semigroup rings. For example, it is shown that if T and R are each finite sums of fields and S is a commutative monoid with finite periodic part, then \(T\simeq R\) if TS\(\simeq RS\).
