Let L be a complete linear lattice and \({\mathcal F}(A):=\{\mu |\) \(\mu\) : \(A\to L\}\) the class of all fuzzy sets of a nonempty set A. Consider three fuzzy binary relations \(Q\in {\mathcal F}(X\times Y)\), \(R\in {\mathcal F}(Y\times Z)\) and \(T\in {\mathcal F}(X\times Z)\) on nonempty, finite sets X, Y, Z. T is assumed to be the max-min-composition of R and Q denoted by \(T:=R\circ Q\) [see: \textit{E. Sanchez}, Inf. Control 30, 38-48 (1976; Zbl 0326.02048)]. Suppose that T and Q are given and that we wish to determine the set \({\mathcal R}\) of all solutions satisfying the induced fuzzy relation equation \(T=R\circ Q\). The authors present a characterization of all equations fulfilling the condition \(| {\mathcal R}| =1\). An example shows that the corresponding theorem generally does not hold on complete (not linear) Brouwerian lattices.
