    Let \(I=(a,b)\), \(-\infty \leq a<b\leq \infty\), f and g be continuous, invertible self mappings of I. Assume that \(fg=gf\) and \(f^ n(x)\neq g^ m(x)\) for every \(x\in (a,b)\) and every \(n,m\in {\mathbb{Z}}\) such that \(| n| +| m| \neq 0\). For an arbitrary \(x\in (a,b)\) denote by L(x) the set of limit points of the sequence \(\{f^ ng^ m(x):\) \(n,m\in {\mathbb{Z}}\}\). The author proves that \(L(x)=L(y)\) for any \(x,y\in (a,b)\) and the set L is either a perfect and nowhere dense set or \(L=<a,b>\); \(f[L\cap (a,b)]=L\cap (a,b)\) and \(g[L\cap (a,b)]=L\cap (a,b).\) Another interesting result of the paper is the following: If f,g: \(I\to I\) are strictly increasing bijections, \(fg=gf\) and \(f^ n=g^ m\) for some \(n,m\in {\mathbb{Z}}\), then there exists a bijection h: \(I\to I\) and integers p and q such that \(f=h^ q\) and \(g=h^ p\).
