Finite element mesh generation methods: A review and classification (Q1113647)

This is a survey giving a clear overview of the finite element mesh generation field. A classification scheme for mesh generation methods is introduced and seven basically different classes are identified. Only four of these have fully automatic mesh generation. The methods are then compared with respect to element types, element shapes, mesh density control and time efficiency.
