On singularities of the curves belonging to some linear systems in \({\mathbb{P}}^ 2\) (Q1113961)

Let S be a zero-dimensional closed subscheme of the projective plane \({\mathbb{P}}^ 2\) over an algebraically closed field. The paper studies the linear systems of plane curves of degree \( d\) passing through the points of S. In particular, the singularities of the plane curves belonging to such linear systems (whose general members are singular and reduced) are investigated. Another kind of problem considered (and solved) is the determination of the least degree of non-singular curves passing through S when S is in uniform position.
