Let \(\lambda\in (0,1]\) be a translation parameter and let \(y=(y_ j)_{j\in Z}\) be a given sequence of real numbers. For a given linear subspace V of \(S_ m\) (cardinal splines of degree m) the author studies the problem of finding s(x)\(\in V\) such that \(s(j-\lambda)=y\), \(j\in Z\). This problem is called C.I.P. (Cardinal Interpolation Problem). If \(\lambda =1\) when m is odd and if \(\lambda =\) when m is even, I. J. Schoenberg in several papers and \textit{H. ter Morsche} [Spline Funct., Proc. Int. Symp., Karlsruhe 1975, Lect. Notes Math. 501, 210-219 (1976; Zbl 0315.41009)] have shown that the C.I.P. has one and only one solution of power growth if \(y\in {\mathbb{R}}^ z\) is of power growth. They also found Lagrange type representation converging locally uniformly. Here the author proves similar results when y satisfies exponential growth conditions. This is a generalization of the work of \textit{M. Reimer} [Approximation Theory III, Proc. Conf. Hon. G. Lorentz Austin/Tex 1980, 723-728 (1980; Zbl 0476.41011)], who tretaed the case \(\lambda =1\) when m is odd. Finally he treats also the case \(\lambda =1\) when m is odd or \(\lambda =\) where m is even.
