This paper is concerned with the abstract functional integrodifferential problem \[ (P)\quad x'(t)+A(t)x(t)=f(t,x_ t,\int^{t}_{0}K(t,s,x_ s)ds,\quad t\in [0,T],\quad x_ 0=g, \] where -A(t) generates an analytic semigroup in a Banach space B and, for each \(t\in [0,T]\), \(x_ t(s)=x(t+s)\), -r\(\leq s\leq 0\). Under the assumption that the domain of A(t) is independent of t, sufficient conditions are given on f, K and g to obtain the existence and uniqueness of a solution of (P). The asymptotic behavior is also investigated. The main tools employed by the authors are the method of successive approximations, comparison theorems and an integral inequality due to the second author [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 44, 758-762 (1973; Zbl 0274.45011)].
