In earlier papers of the authors, the Kronecker-Picard method was applied to the determination of the number of roots and to a single simple root of a nonlinear equation in a finite interval. In this paper, the authors develop their method and use the sign function instead of the inverse- tangent function. The proposed formulae for the determination of a simple root contain one integral term. Numerical experiments obtained for the Kepler equation show numerical effectiveness of the method. The rate of convergence is established.
