The author constructs a second-order, L-stable composite multistep method and provides a formula for the estimation of the local truncation error. Although this remark is not made in the paper, the new method can be viewed as a diagonally-implicit, three-stage Runge-Kutta scheme whose Butcher matrix satisfies \(a_{11}=0\), \(a_{22}=a_{33}\). Numerical examples are given.
