Optimization, mathematical modelling and approximation have important common strengthening links and they are emerging as vital forces for our research efforts. Hence here the authors have made a significant addition to the existing knowledge of methods to obtain performance characteristics in respect of schemes and to follow up trajectories of charged particles in an electrostatic, particle-in-cell plasma simulations. Formulation of time differencing schemes, their incorporation into simulation code and numerical stability studies form the basic content of the paper. Among the important ideas used are implicit time integration and nonlinear instability. Based directly on more than one outstanding technique this paper will prove useful for workers especially in the computational physics.
