A continuous model without feedback control was developed previously by \textit{W. M. O'Fallon}, \textit{R. I. Walker} and \textit{H. R. van der Vaart} [Acta Biother. 20, 95-124 (1971)] for granulocyte kinetics. The continuous model used the integration of a negative exponential density function to describe the behavior of the circulating blood. This study shows that when neutropenia occurs some problems are encountered, and that discretizing the integral equation is a solution around these problems.
