The author gives an elegant characterization of the order automorphisms of the space of nondecreasing left- (or right-) continuous functions from one closed interval \([p,q]\) of the extended nonnegative reals to a second closed interval \([r,s]\) and uses this characterization to show that these order automorphisms are continuous with respect to weak convergence. Essentially, the characterization shows that every such order automorphism is of the type \(f\to gfh\) or of the type \(f\to\alpha\check f\beta\), where \(g\in\Aut[r,s]\), \(h\in\Aut[p,q]\), and \(\alpha\), \(\beta\) are dual order automorphisms from \([p,q]\) onto \([r,s]\). Applications are given to an emerging theory of cluster analysis -- a theory based on properties of probabilistic metric spaces.
