A set \(A\subseteq {\mathbb{R}}\) is called b-normal if there exists a bounded sequence (\(\Lambda)\) of real numbers such that (\(\alpha\) \(\Lambda)\) is uniformly distributed mod 1 iff \(\alpha\in A\). The author analyzes the structure of b-normal sets in view of known results on normal sets (defined in the same way but without the boundedness condition). The main result: A set \(A\subseteq {\mathbb{R}}\) is b-normal iff: (i) \(0\not\in A\); (ii) kA\(\subseteq A\) for all integers \(k\neq 0\); (iii) there exists on \({\mathbb{R}}^ a \)Borel probability measure \(\mu\) with bounded support, whose Fourier transform satisfies \({\hat \mu}\)(x)\(=0\) \(\forall x\in A\).
