Analytic solution for a D-optimal design is obtained for a linear log contrast model for experiments with mixtures on the k-dimensional simplex introduced recently by \textit{J. Aitchison} and \textit{J. Bacon-Shone} [Biometrika 71, 323-330 (1984)]. The geometric pictures for the cases of 2- and 3-dimensional simplexes are given.
