[For part I see J. Fac. Sci., Univ. Tokyo, Sect. IA 35, No.1, 27-76 (1988; Zbl 0667.35002).] Consider the semi-linear elliptic boundary value problem: \[ (1)\quad \Delta v+f(v)=0\quad in\quad \Omega;\quad \partial v/\partial \nu =0\quad on\quad \partial \Omega, \] where f is a real valued smooth function on \({\mathbb{R}}\). The singularly perturbed domain \(\Omega\) (\(\zeta)\) is decomposed as \(\Omega (\zeta)=D_ 1\cup D_ 2\cup Q(\zeta)\) where \(D_ 1\) and \(D_ 2\) are mutually disjoint bounded domains in \(R^ n\), \(n\geq 3\), and Q(\(\zeta)\) is changing its shape and approaches a segment L as \(\zeta\) \(\to 0.\) In part I the author characterized the behavior of a certain class of the solutions of (1). In the present paper, he proves that any solution of (1) is approximated, as \(\zeta\) \(\to 0\), by some \(w_ i\) in \(D_ i\), \(i=1,2\), and by some V in Q(\(\zeta)\), where \(w_ i\) is a solution of (1) with \(\Omega =D_ i\) and V is a solution of the ordinary differential equation \(V''+f(V)=0\) along L, with the boundary conditions \(V|_{\partial L\cap \partial D_ i}=w_ i| \partial L\cap \partial D_ i.\) He also obtains a fine characterization of the linearized first eigenvalue of v.
