The author proves a convergence theorem for solutions of the parabolic initial boundary value problem \[ u_ t-a^ m(t,x)u_{xx}=b^ m(t,x),\quad (t,x)\in Q=(0,T)\times (0,\ell),\quad u(0,x)=u_ x(t,0)=u(t,\ell)=0, \] when \(a^ m(t,x)\to a^{\infty}(t,x)\) uniformly in Q and \(b^ m(t,x)\to b^{\infty}(t,x)\) weakly in \(L_ 2(Q)\). He also gives the exact rate of convergence.
