The aim of the author is to find a sufficient condition for approximate controllability for a semilinear system of the form \[ (1)\quad y'(t)+Ay(t)=F(y(t))+(Br)(t),\quad y(0)=0,\quad 0<t<T. \] In contrast to linear control systems (i.e. \(F\equiv 0)\) restrictive and additional assumptions on the operators A, B, F are required. For the two general cases that either the reachable sets are limited or controllability is restricted to a narrow state space the author separates two conditions of H. X. Zhou, via an inequality condition. Then it is shown that system (1) is approximate controllable and the relations of the system parameters concerning the inequality condition are investigated. In this respect a former result of the author for a simple case of (1) is extended.
