Let X be an affine Lie algebra over the complex number field \({\mathbb{C}}\). A standard X-module is an irreducible highest weight X-module with a dominant integral highest weight. J. Lepowsky and P. L. Wilson constructed basic module for the simplest affine algebra \(A_ 1^{(1)}\) and interpreted the construction by means of combinatorial identities, where the Z-operators play a fundamental role. Then, K. C. Misra constructed some standard modules for \(A_ n^{(1)}\) and \(C_ n^{(1)}\) and A. J. Feingold and I. B. Frenkel constructed some nonstandard irreducible highest weight modules for \(C_ n^{(1)}\) by means of Weyl algebra. In this paper, the author investigates the algebras \(Z_ V\) of the nonstandard modules for \(C_ n^{(1)}\) studied by Feingold and Frenkel and determines the basis of the vacuum spaces of the Heisenberg algebras. Contrary to the standard case, Z-operators are too crude to describe the module structure in the nonstandard case. Thus, the author introduces so called ``refined Z-operators'' in which there exists an analogue of generalized commutation relations and shows that the Z-operators can be expressed as infinite sums of products of refined Z-operators with which one can easily find the spanning set of the vacuum space. Then, studying the relations between Heisenberg subalgebras and refined Z-operators, the author finds new relations of Z-operators and proves linear dependence of the spanning set of the space.
