The application of our model of immunological tolerance to immunoglobulin suppression and \(CD4^+\) lymphocyte depletion in HIV infected persons demonstrates that its use is not limited only to immunological tolerance and that it is also applicable to other suppression phenomena. The results obtained in simulating the recovery from idiotype and isotype suppression suggest approaches amenable to experimental analysis and stimulating construction of alternative modifications of the mathematical model. As far as its application to the \(CD4^+\) lymphocyte depletion in HIV infected individuals is concerned, we hope to be able to make it a useful tool in analysing the mechanisms of immunological defects in this infection by specifying and quantifying more precisely the involved factors.
